Biography
Ioannis was born in Athens, Greece. In 1967 his family moved to the United States. At an early age American comic book artists influenced Ioannis. He immediately knew he would be an illustrator and began creating and drawing his own comic books which he sold around the neighborhood. His love for music ensured his gravitation toward artwork involving the music business and in particular record sleeve design. During his teen years he began painting in different media, developing a unique mixed-media technique combining photographs, several types of paint and mixing traditional and airbrush application. As he began college Ioannis had already begun providing design to the local independent music acts and labels. Eventually this expanded to include the New York music scene in the early eighties. Ioannis' work as a freelance art director increased dramatically during this time, as he supervised many projects, from album covers to corporate identity campaigns with major entertainment industry players. Exhibitions of his personal artwork that included galleries in New York and San Diego as well as a month long exhibit of his work sponsored by the Greater New Haven Arts Council at the Palace Theater in New Haven. Ioannis formed Vivid Images Design in 1994 as demand for his art and art direction continued to grow. Clients included Universal Records, Sony Records and Sanctuary Records Group with artists as diverse Deep Purple, King Crimson, Blue Oyster Cult and the 1994 cover art and tour graphics for the Allman Brothers Band World Tour. In 1994, Ioannis was one of 80 artists worldwide to be asked to paint a mural at Woodstock II. In 1998 Ioannis' cover painting for the group "Art in America" released in 1983 on Epic Records was featured in the book "1000 RECORD COVERS" by Michael Ochs as one of the best covers in a collection that spans forty years. In 1999 he exhibited his work at VH-1. That same year a series of limited edition signed prints of his artwork from the covers of King Crimson, Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blue Oyster Cult were made available through various commercial outlets. In 2001 he formed Dangerous Age Graphics to market his personal artwork, exhibits, posters, prints, videos, merchandising and stage design.
